We are so pleased to be a part of the Guardian newspaper’s second round winning cohort of grant applicants! The funds are enabling those who have pledged befriending and English lessons/conversations to fulfil those pledges in a spirit of welcome and hospitality. This project clearly adheres to the City of Sanctuary’s principles of creating opportunities for friendship and solidarity between locals and the guests to our area, as well as opportunities for partnerships. In bringing the two groups together, face to face and directly, local people will have a better understanding of asylum and refugee issues, thus creating the conditions for empowering more local people to take action in support of those seeking sanctuary. If you’re in the Lincolnshire area (North Lincolnshire, North East Lincolnshire, or Lincolnshire) and have experience teaching ESOL, please get in touch!
